Pertronic took the opportunity to showcase our technology and innovation at the World of Tech Careers Expo on November 5.
Held at the Lower Hutt Town Hall, and sponsored by the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce, Hutt City Council and Tech Step, the event aims to inspire Years 9 and 10 students about a possible future in tech.
The organisers requested hands-on activities to help shape subject selection and career paths as they progress through school.
Youthful Pertronic research and development personnel Brandon Pothoven, Jamie U, Sam Middleton and Corban van Manen provided experiences through our Text-to-Speech module on the EA Amplifer and the F220 panel's FireMap capabilities. Jamie, Sam and Corban also demonstrated the voice sounder and loop sounder experimental equipment they've been developing since graduating from university last year.
The four and a half hour event was packed at times with students.
And while it's quite possible the 13 and 14 year old's who attended the expo might one day work at Pertronic, from a Hutt Valley, Wellington and New Zealand point of view, it is more important to expose these students to the possibilities that exist in innovation and technology.
As part of Pertronic's wider community involvement this expo was an opportunity to highlight career futures which may have not necessarily been visible before they attended the event.
